Each drum is made from a solid piece of legally harvested environmentally sustainable mahogany hardwood. A Celtic Labyrinth carving on the base of the shell is topped off with a cherry stained wood finish. The drum head is a premium selected goatskin with a traditional rope tuning system.

I bought this as a birthday gift for my gf- for one I thought it would be a bit bigger, when measured it was about an inch in diameter less than I expected and not quite a foot and a half tall.However it does disclaim that they are all “unique” and that may happen. For an 80+ dollar djembe I had thought it would be a bit more substantial with more of a hollow sounding drum than the shallow tip it makes. It is not the best drum, it is pretty but the wood is also rough and it seems to be mass-produced in poor quality.
Last, it seems I was sent a used drum. This is extremely disappointing after everything else, as the drum skin itself has very obvious marks of use in the way of black and greasy fingertip markings that saddened me to see as I have not yet given this gift to my gf and it is too late to return it. I shall have to make up for this disappointment in the future with a bigger and nicer drum, but I suppose that’s what I get for purchasing an .00 drum marked down to .00. Sad face all around. msb85 0

I bought this drum thinking it would be fun to play along with my son (who recieved a much nicer remo drum) and was amazed at how tiny it is. I realize the description says 8-9" head but I didn’t realize that it would be nearly impossible to play properly with adult sized hands. All in, it is cute and looks just like the picture but if you are older then 10 years this is clearly not the right size for you.

Beautiful craftsmanship and sounding drum. I would recommend this instrument and company to anyone. it is perfect for the beginner. Some tuning is required but that is easy to do once you have the method, which x8 provided it is quick.
When it arrived I was a little disappointed to find it was cracked during shipping. When I called customer service I was amazed to find that I didn’t get a sad story and run around. This company sent me a replacement right away. Of course they wanted proof about it so I emailed some pics. I hope they can get their claim on this. Shipping can get expensive.
