![]() Snark-2 versus Snark-6, By

This review is from: Snark SN6 Clip-On Ukulele Tuner (Electronics)
I own several tuners, and two Snark-2 tuners, which are great (except they’re not low profile like the Korg Pitchclip Chromatic Clip On Guitar Tuner – Korg PC-1–please see my review of that tuner).
So, since I needed another tuner for my ukulele, I ordered this time a Snark-6. This one says, specifically, for a ukulele. I wanted to try it compared to the Snark-2 Snark SN-2 All Instrument Clip-On Chromatic Tuner The Snark-6 and Snark-2 are identical, except for color. The Uke tuner here is gloss black, and the Snark-2 is matte red. Otherwise, the size of the dial/face, the clip itself is precisely the same. So, there’s nothing more ukulele relevant about the 6 versus the 2. The tuning is chromatic, so it’s good for any specific instrument (mandolin, guitar, uke, banjo, etc.). So, choose whichever color you prefer, and go for it. Sweet tuner. Superb graphics on the dial, colorful accurate, and inexpensive (but not “cheap” build, like the Korg). Highly recommended tuner. 0

As a beginner to the ukulele (and someone who doesn’t have an ear for knowing when something is in tune) I knew I would need a tuner. I chose the Snark SN-6 Ukulele Tuner based on price and positive Amazon review. I have to say I’m not disappointed at all.
Positives- Great price. Great value. Extremely handy to have. Easy to use. A must for a beginner or anyone who doesn’t have the ear for knowing when something is in tune. Negatives- The battery it came with didn’t seem to last long at all. I’m not sure if it was a faulty battery, a cheap battery, or if possibly I left it on too long or left it on accidentally after putting it way and drained the battery. Recommendations- Buy a couple of extra batteries just in case. It uses one CR2032 3 volt battery. The price of the battery seems to vary quite a bit depending on brand and where you buy them from but at most they’re each. 0

All I wanted was a good, well priced tuner for my ukulele. Nothing fancy, just a good tuner. My other tuner (a musedo) would be all over the place at times when I was trying to use it and I no longer really trusted it. I checked out all the other tuners on Amazon (read the reviews, pros & cons, etc…) and decided to go with the Snark SN-1 since I saw that other people tuned their ukes with the Snark. Then I saw the Snark Ukulele SN-6 tuner. There were no reviews on it at the time but because of the other positive reviews on other Snark products, I thought I give it a try. I’m glad I did! It’s small, solid and accurate!
It grips on the uke headstock well; it doesn’t interfer with the tuning knobs; has a clear, well lit display; responds accurately to any note (not just GCEA); and it’s a great price! The only downside (if you want to call it that) is that it doesn’t fold up flat against the headstock so you may have to remove it when you put your uke in it’s case. Buy it, you won’t be sorry! 0 |
