I received my adapter as a review sample from the manufacturer. It is an absolute godsend for me because I am using an older ThinkPad T61 that has the stereo ports in the front of the laptop. I have no idea why it was designed that way, but running a 3.5mm cable out to an external speaker interfered with my typing. Had I wanted to use a microphone into the T61 the result would have been the same. This adapter solved that problem.
It’s more than just an afterthought. The USB plug is a perfect fit, unlike some cheaper adapters I tried in the past. Also, the 3.5mm ports mate perfectly with my male-to-male cables. There is zero RF or other interference, so I am assuming that the body and internal connections are high quality and shielded. Mine was immediately recognized by my ancient Windows XP laptop and worked perfectly as soon as I plugged it into USB and connected a speaker. Heck, it took longer to remove it from its packaging than it did to actually use it. Bottom line: these are worth their weight in gold to folks who have damaged stereo ports in their PCs or Macs, or – as in my case – have ports placed in the most inconvenient spot. 0

Very handy for my MacBook Pro, which has no Microphone port otherwise. I tested 3 different microphones (powered and unpowered) along with the audio out (headphones). No problems so far. It is “Plug & Play.” I rotated the plugs, testing for crackle or bad connection. No problems. The sound quality seems perfectly fine. The adapter gets a little hot. I guess it’s got some work to do. The two 3.5mm sockets have industry standard colors (pink for mic, green for audio out). A little mic symbol or something would have been handy for people who don’t know the color standards. Usually sells for . Nice! – – – Disclosure – – – The manufacturer gave me this item for review. I believe my review is impartial. ~~~ Comments & questions welcome ~~~ 0

Verified Purchase(What’s this?)
This review is from: Sabrent USB External Stereo Sound Adapter for Windows and Mac. Plug and play No drivers Needed. (AU-MMSA) (Personal Computers)
I recently had an audio card die on a computer I really didn’t want to invest time/money on. A friend of mine mentioned an external USB sound adapter (with mic port as well) and I bought it to give it a try. I plugged it in and it was recognized by the computer, drivers were installed automatically, and it worked right away.
I would recommend for situations where you don’t want to open your computer… or can’t… It is inexpensive and it works. 0 |
