I played this drum for the first time tonight at a drum circle. There are a number of different sounds you can get from it.

1. Hold horizontally and gently tip from side to side. Gives a wave crashing sound.

2. Hold horizontally and very gently twist in a circle. Gives a slower, more subtle wave sound.

3. Hold straight down with your arm at your side and shake it by twisting your wrist yields a very powerful crash. Doing that with a sharp snapping motion completely blew me away – and the guy sitting next to me.

4. Hold horizontally and strike with your hand or a stick and it makes a rattly, almost snare-like sound.

5. I didn’t try this but you could use a stick on the rim of course for other effects.

It’s a very loud drum. My only concern was that the clear head didn’t seem that secure. No problems while I was playing it, though.

I’m definitely getting one.

Ordered one of these drums, but not the one pictured above. Ordered the drum with the design on it, and received the white one. All said and done, I am stuck with the one I did not order. Good luck, and please specify if you are going to order from this Amazon supplier, as they will not work with you to make it right.
