It is used for outdoor music for the BBQ area. It powers two Gemini GSM1260 12″ 3-Way Loudspeakers. We use it so people can hook up their MP3 players during events. More than enough power. Make sure you keep it in a cool area with good ventilation. Gets very warm and has no built in fan. Make sure you use “banana plugs” on your speaker cables as the lug assembly on the back for speaker connections does not accommodate 12 gauge wire. Would rate a five star if it had a built in fan.
*UPDATE: Unit died on the 17th August, under 30 days. Will no longer power on. Not the fuse or anything user serviceable. Amazon replacing (they are great). I hope this was a “fluke” and the replacement has a longer life span. Leaving 4 star rating at this time. *UPDATE: 13/Sep/12..Received the replacement unit..Amazon is great in that respect. So far so good. *UPDATE: 17/Sep/12..OK here is what is new. #1 found out that the A/C power for this amplifier is not phase controlled. The A/C cord has no ground wire, is not a polarized plug and can connect to the A/C outlet either direction. The connection at the rear of the PAMP 1000 is keyed for polarity, BUT the supplied cord is not and can plug into amp either way. When measured with a volt meter, the following is observed. With the A/C cord plugged in one direction ~7vac from chassis to A/C outlet ground, thats good. If you plug the A/C cord in the other way ~73vac from chassis to a/c outlet ground. NOT GOOD!! I also noticed no UL listing on the box, amp or instructions. Be Careful. #2 Worked fine at last BBQ..Nice and loud. Ran for 6 hours straight. 0

The Pyle PAMP1000 is working perfectly as a subwoofer amp for an Audiosource 8 inch in wall subwoofer. I have it set up in bridge mode and it is providing plenty of power.
It is connected to my Yamaha RX-V471 by rca cable from the ‘subwoofer’ out to the line 2 right rca input of the Pyle amp. From there the speaker wires connect to the speaker A Right + and Left – indicated in the manual for use in bridge mode. I set up my 5.1 system using the Yamaha auto set-up. Before I began I turned the Pyle volume for the sub to half (indicated in the Yamaha manual for subwoofer set up). Then I ran the auto-set up. The Yamaha set the level of the subwoofer to +10db. If I find the bass is too much or too little, I turn the Pyle volume for the sub up or down. I’ve found a little more than half-way is just about perfect. Auto-on is also working as expected for this amp. When I turn on the TV, the Yamaha turns on then the Pyle turns on a few seconds later and then the bass kicks in. When I power off the TV, the Yamaha turns off and it takes the Pyle about 5 minutes to power down. This amp was more expensive than a plate amp I was also considering, but this unit fits right in my av cabinet and I can make adjustments easy. I would have put a plate amp in the basement or closet and making adjustments would have been an ordeal. It was worth it to pay more for that convenience. The .99 price of this unit seems right on. For operation, convenience, and price, I give it 5 stars. I wanted this review to provide the information I was looking for when considering this unit as a subwoofer amp. 0

For less than and free shipping, this is a bargain. Just know there is no remote control, and the two inputs are not switch selectable, but automatically switch to input one if a signal is present. This switching seems a bit erratic and switches to the second input if there is even slight silence on the first input. This has caused mine to switch back and forth between sources unexpectedly (too fast a time constant I’d guess), so I’m only using one input. If you can live with one input, this is a steal.
