I recently put these 20 strand Puresound Blasters on my 6.5×14 Ludwig Supraphonic, and they really have a great punch with little to no rattle. I highly recommend these if you want a big sound.

A friend gave me an old steel snare to fix up. Since I play mostly metal I needed something higher volume and less sensitive. Enter the Puresound Blasters! The straps it comes with are easy to install and trim. Just be careful not to stretch them. Start at the loosest tension possible before engaging the strainer. The response is tight and dry. The bent clips do a nice job of holding the wires tight and even. These are purely for the heavier styles or any venue where the snare needs help to cut through. For my 6.5″X14″ steel snare, it cracks like thunder with the speed of lightning!

I was super excited to get my new Puresound snare wires. I had read all kinds of great reviews online. I wanted a better sound out of my snare, and I knew this would do the trick. BUT, unless I’m missing something major here (which is completely possible), Puresound messed up. I’ve been playing drums for almost 15 years, so I was a little surprised by what I encountered. I bought it for a 14″ drum, but the snare wire is actually a full “14 inches from copper end to copper end. When I threw it on, it actually damaged the bearing edge of my snare a little! I was not very happy about that, needless to say. I guess I have to get a “13 and use extra long straps? I don’t know. I recognize the quality here, so want this to work! I know it’s going to sound a lot better, I just don’t know how to make it work. Other than that it’s a great product!
