![]() Complete Garbage – Advice from a Pro, By
This review is from: Mendini MTT-N Nickel Plated Bb Trumpet (Electronics)
I recently had a student buy this instrument for beginning band. First I would like to say, I am a more experienced reviewer than anyone else I see on this board. I have played professionally for 22 years and I build horns myself.
This instrument was a complete piece of junk. Essentially something I like to call a future lamp. It looks like a trumpet, but it can’t actually do what a trumpet is supposed to do, and as such, is not really an isntrument. The valves have discoloration on them already, meaning the alloy used to plate them is of such poor quality that the Now to the most laughably bad part, the threading on the top of the valves that holds them in the horn wasn’t able Parents, go get your band teacher’s help. They can help you find a REAL used instrument of a quality brand for around the same price, that will last long enough for your great grand children to be playing on. If you aren’t a trumpet player yourself you are in NO POSITION to be blindly buying something like this. You may as well just take 0 out back and burn it. 0

I am a beginning college trumpet student and recently bought this for my lessons that I have. I know enough about music and instruments to know whether it’s a good horn or not. I was concerned about not being able to see the trumpet in person before I bought it. As the package came, I hesitantly opened the case and was pleasantly surprised. I was afraid the horn was going to be refurbished and the tone production was going to be horrible. When I examined the horn, the tone quality was better than I expected, the horn was brand new with only a few fingerprints from putting it into the case. It came with all it said it was going to, but the cloth that came with it started falling apart, but micro fiber clothes work better than what they sent. The valve action was great, none of them (even the 3rd valve) stuck. With some valve oil and slide grease, this horn was working fantastic right out of the case. The 7c mouthpiece that comes with it is standard for most trumpets and works great for this horn. The case is good and has a pocket to put other accouterments in and also comes with a removable shoulder strap.
This trumpet was a very good buy and very good quality for the price. I would recommend this instead of renting an instrument if anyone is serious about learning the trumpet. 0

This review is from: Mendini MTT-L Lacquer Brass Bb Trumpet, Gold (Electronics)
I have been playing trumpet for 3 years and I found this trumpet and thought it was a reasonable price. This is my review.
The Trumpet Case The case main zippers will sometimes get jammed and the pockets are decent. The case can withstand some forces, but it cannot handle extreme conditions The Items The trumpet stand broke, The screws were loose and the legs came off. The tuner is not the best, as sometimes the tuner may black out for a second. The little handbook is nice, and the cleaning cloth is good. The trumpet I played this trumpet for 2 years and I have much trouble with it. I had to oil it everytime I play, and valves are very sticky. The mouthpeice is a standard 7C and is as good as any mouthpeice. One of the main issues i had were the brass finish. Through the years, the paint began to come off, and make the trumpet loose its shine. The water key isnt sturdy and might come off. The Main Main issue I have with the trumpet is the noise it makes. It sounds much different from other trumpets, and is always flat. Even in cold areas. While playing in a jazz band, I stick out a lot, and forced to use a different trumpet. This trumpet is garbage. 0 |
