I couldn’t be happier with this purchase. Not only is it a good price for the trombone, it is a beautifully constructed instrument. The slides are perfectly aligned so that they slide nicely the whole length, but they also stay securely in position when set. The F trigger valve feels solid and works great. I don’t detect any air slippage or leaks from the valve or the slides. It has a beautiful two-tone finish (gold and silver) exactly as shown in the photographs. The case is lightweight, but sturdy with plastic feet on two sides so it can be laid down or stood on end depending on your preference. It does not come with slide oil, so don’t forget to purchase that separately. I got “SuperSlick” which works great. I would definitely recommend this instrument.

I’ve been playing trombone for about 5 years. I started with an Etude trombone and upgraded to a Yamaha. I wanted to try a new trombone with an F attachment. So, I purchased this as my first. I got it about 2 days after and my first impressions of it was that it looked beautiful. Anyway, let’s talk about the case first. The case is black and has a zipper/velcro mechanism. It’s a hard case with a layer of fabric on the outside. The zipper is very smooth and the velcro is fine. Now, the trombone is pretty decent, I guess. It came dirty. It didn’t look dirty, but I can tell it was dirty, as I was playing. My slide was noisy, the valve was stuck and my trombone wouldn’t tighten properly. All that went away when I washed it in the tub. I lubricated my slide with Yamaha Slide Oil. (I REALLY recommend getting this slide oil or at least TRY it. You will not regret!) After that, It was extremely smooth. It actually slipped off of my trombone on accident. My valve was smooth and my trombone was nice and tight. Then I tried playing it. It was EXTREMELY out of tune and the tone was a bit off. For a student who practiced trombone 3 to 6 hours a day, everyday in middle school, I was told by many teachers that I have very good tone. So, when I played, I knew right away that my tone wasn’t off because of me, but the instrument. I gave this trombone 3 stars, because yes, it may have given me a hard time to tune, but tuning is very easy on the trombone. The slide is a giant tuning slide, so tuning wasn’t that big of a deal. Also, the tone was a bit off, but hey, who will notice? Just don’t bring this to auditions and more professional concert programs outside of school. That’s all I can say. It’s great for marching band and for outdoor use though, because it’s cheap and affordable. Just remember this is not repairable at most music stores, because of the cheap brass material.

I purchased this trombone for my 13 yr old son who just joined his high school marching band and he is very pleased with it. Although in middle school he had a well known name brand (rental) this trombone is much much lighter to carry and has a very nice case. After doing a lot of research, I must say that I am happy with this trombone and would definitely recommend it for a student. 🙂 thumbs up Mendini.
