Sick of trying to rock out to a metronome like it’s a real drummer? The Korg KR mini compact rhythm machine spices up your solo practice with 60 amazing drum patterns and 120 fills covering a variety of popular musical styles. That’s only the beginning. Despite its diminutive size, the KR mini features 16 velocity-sensitive performance pads, which let you program your own natural-sounding drum grooves. There’s also a chaining function onboard that lets you string together pattern and fill to create whole songs. A pair of jacks let you connect standard footswitches to the KR mini, allowing you to start and stop playback and trigger fills on the fly. And since it can run off batteries and have its own built-in speaker, you can jam anywhere along with your Korg KR mini.

finally, after all these years someone made an extremely affordable drum machine that is simple and straight forward and can be used with a small acoustic job where electricity is not available. I have a friend who invites the vets from the veteran’s home to his house and for a cook out and they sit around the fire and talk and two of us from our band will play for them. We just take our acoustic guitars and there is no need to plug in but it’s always nice to have some drums in the background and this drum machine is just the thing we needed. It runs on batteries and has it’s own speaker. Plus it has a foot pedal for on/off, which is expected but to have one for fills also is wonderful. Drum fills really add to a song. The only thing I would add to this machine is a little number gauge around the tempo dial (which I made myself) so a person can write down the speed of the songs. Thank you so much for making this drum machine. I have been playing and using drum machines since I was 15. I am now 58 and this is the first drum machine that I have been truly satisfied with.

![]() No way to set the tempo!,
This review is from: Korg KR mini Rhythm Machine (Electronics)
Would have been a nice little machine but they made a huge mistake. The kr-mini has no way to preset the tempo. The dial for tempo is just a knob with no graph or numbers to let you know what the tempo will be until you start it. Then you will know the tempo and adjust it faster or slower. Totally useless for live performances. Such a no brainer a drum machine needs two things, a way to set the pattern and a way to set the tempo, Korg neglected this simple premise, For a company known for it’s drum machines this is actually unbelievable. The fix would have been easy, a graph around the knob. Someone was definitely asleep on this one.

Just got my Korg KR mini Rhythm Machine. It’s the PERFECT little box to sit on your amp and jam along with. The unit is small and self-contained . It’s battery operated with a built-speaker. This little box can easily keep up with a loud acoustic or even electric guitars at practice levels. The basic controls are pretty simple. Some of the more complex functions require some study but if you’re just looking for cool beats to jam along to… this unit is ready to go straight out of the box! THIS IS NOT A HIGH-END DRUM SEQUENCER! You can’t connect it to your MIDI sampler sync slave controller thingees! Not at this price. It’s just a little self-contained drum box with built-in rhythms. It’s designed mostly for guitarists, bassists, etc for practice. I probably wouldn’t hesitate to take it to a backyard jam or even an open mic. Get it!
