This Factory Special Run features everything that is included with its sisters in the Gretsch G5420T Electromatics but with a Exclusive Ice Blue Metal Flake top. The Ice Blue top is matched with white binding, walnut back and sides for a hard-to-look-away Americana red white and blue motif. Add the fact that a limited run of 25 have been manufactured and you will own a unique piece of Gretsch History.
The Gretsch G5420T was created with an electrifying new voice from the vibrant Black Top Filter’tron Pickups. Volume controls for each pickup, a master volume control knob, a tone control knob and a 3 way pickup selector offers blending opportunities with full rich sound. The tone with both pickups and full volume can offer detail from the high end and clarity throughout. Backing off the master volume and going to just the bridge pickup can produce a warm tone. Add the whammy effects from the Licensed Bigsby Vibrato and you have a full spectrum tool.
The single cutaway, five ply Maple body, and graceful bound f-holes of the G5420T matched with the sound post bracing offers enhanced sustain and stability that may surprise you. Other features of this guitar include a smooth playing Maple neck and bound Rosewood fretboard, 22 Jumbo frets, Adjusto-Matic Bridge, chrome plated hardware, vintage style open back tuners, adjustable truss rod, and hump block position inlays.
The G5420T Electromatic® Hollow Body is a sharp new Gretsch guitar with a bound single-cutaway hollow body featuring sound-post bracing and elegant bound f holes. Other features include a maple neck, bound rosewood fingerboard with 22 medium jumbo frets and hump-block pearloid inlays, silver plexi pickguard, three-position pickup switch, classic “G” arrow control knobs, rosewood-based Adjusto-MaticTM bridge and Bigsby®-licensed B60 vibrato tailpiece, vintage-style open-back tuners and chrome-plated hardware.

This is a fun guitar to play and sounds sweet. The body is really large so playing this guitar is like hugging a chubby girl. This is not a bad thing because chubby girls need hugs too! Bought this guitar based on internet reviews (Amazon/ other music websites). Youtube has several videos of people demoing this guitar, which also influenced my purchase. I’ve received many “Wow, what a beautiful guitar.” comments from friends.

Firstly, mine is Orange, not Black. But, what a killer guitar. All the legacy of Gretsch instruments is in place. I’ll compare this with a vintage Nashville model any day. Sweet!

For around 0 you shouldn’t be able to buy such a nice guitar. I have to confess, I haven’t bought it, but I just tried it at GC and was blown away. I do not need another guitar, but this will soon be in my collection. Big punch, or big twang, or smooth and jazzy. Blues drive: OK, but not a big overdriven crunch need apply. pickups are not made for that.
Beautiful workmanship too. The Gibsons I just saw make me want to say, "shame on you Gibson." Looks great in all colors, but I’m enamored of this green color. 0 |
