This review is from: Furman M-8Lx Standard Level Power Conditioning, 15 Amp, 9 Outlets with Wall Wart Spacing, Pullout Lights (Electronics)
As the industry standard in power conditioners, this unit lives up to its name. Other reviewers have commented negatively on slide out housing for the lights, but I have had no issue. Mine slide nicely, and seem to be pretty solid. That being said, I decided to give it 4 stars instead of 5 for a couple reasons:
1. Unit uses dim incandescent bulbs rather than LED lights which are much brighter and last longer. 2. The short depth of the unit basically negates the use of the rack space directly below the power conditioner when wall warts are in use. Or conversely, wall warts cannot be used if conditioner is mounted on the lowest rack. All in all, very happy with functionality despite the couple minor “cons” I mentioned. 0

As with my review of another Furman power conditioner, these sub 0 conditioners don’t actually do “power conditioning” as in AVR (automatic voltage regulation). If your AC power is say, 95v or 140v AC, it’s going to feed your equipment 95v or 140v AC respectively; these’s no boost / limiter / conditioning to bring it to 120v AC. It will, however, protect you from surges / spikes and filters EMI/RFI. Consider this to be a rack mountable version of the Furman SS-6B Steel Power Conditioner along with the added fadable lights. As some reviews have stated, the lights on this have far to be desired, but they do get the job done (lights are incandescent).

If you believe that power conditioning does anything, go buy a Monster one. Bought the M-8L version, which is the same thing except older, opened it up, and it was disappointing. Nothing but three MOV’s (surge suppressents) and one lonely 0.1uF capacitor, which all of your devices already have. Light slides are jittery and seem prone to break. Solidly made other than that, all metal, even the lights. This is just an easy way to turn all your studio or home theater gear off and on. That’s it.
