This is a lovely album. You have Ingebrigt Flaten on double base and Halkon Kornstad on sax and flutonette – I imagine that would be a small flute. Anyway, the music is based on the songs of an obscure religious group that sprand up in Norway around the teachings of Hans Nielsen Hauge in the 19th century. The religion, based on the simple life and helping one’s neighbors, sounds tempting but I like stuff too much. Helping neighbors is fine though. This music lives in that spirit and I highly recommend this quiet but deep CD. Beautifully recorded.
