Whoa, ho ho ho! Hold the phone, folks. If someone told you that you could have FOUR of Dave Smith Instruments’ wildly popular Mopho synths… at a super-sick price (the price of TWO!)… you’d go for it. And why wouldn’t you?!?! You’d get 100% KILLER analog synth tones, with FOUR VOICES at that! So naturally your jaw is going to drop and/or your ears are going to smile (if that’s possible) when you take a look at the Tetra. Yes, we didn’t start off this description on a tangent. Because the Tetra is the awesome POLYPHONIC (4-voice) analog synth from Dave Smith Instruments… that’s sized to fit on your desktop, in your backpack… wherever you feel like making the music. And when you hear this thing, you will feel like making music. It’s like having FOUR MOPHOS in one!

Pros
This is a good 4-voice analog synth. Great fat sound, with broad range of analog sounds. Digitally controlled oscillators and the ability to store presets and combinations is a great feature. Has 4 knobs to assign different functions from step sequencer, arpeggiator to envelope control. Computer editor is a plus for a broad view of the small factor interface which makes it ideal for a ‘Minimal’ configuration. Cons In conclusion, this analog synth packs great sound that looks good in paper due to its features however there are considerable drawbacks that makes this gear not perfect and could be a setback among other analog synths in this price range. 0 ![]() Big Analog Bang for the Buck, By

It appears I’m going to be the first person to give this thing a 5-star endorsement, and I fully admit it’s mostly for the sound-to-cost ratio.
Quick background where I’m coming from: And this is the first Dave Smith product I’ve owned (no Prophet 5 experience though I do kick myself for not buying one I found in a pawn shop back in 90’s). Positives: Negatives: And that’s about it. Wish it had more voices and knobs, but that’s just being greedy because again, 4 analog voices for this price is quite nice. Great sound and easy programmability (for my setup anyway) make this a no-brainer, 5-star purchase…for me anyway. 0 |
