I bought this to let my Cavalry OSUT Troops have a horn to tute in the fine traditions of the Cav. It looks great and the tone is dead on EXCEPT. If you are a bugler or play any horn, this bugle’s note progression is 1,5,8 not 1,3,5,8. Meaning I can play C, G. amd C while I should be able to hit the E between. I had another bugle player try and he could not either.
A beatiful little horn and a fine wall hanger but not good for most bugle calls. 0

My wife bought this for fun. She plays trombone and wanted a “toy.” My primary instruments are trumpet & french horn. My expectations were low. But this humble little bugle plays beautifully. Out of the box I played Reveille. The sound was rich and the instrument was amazingly easy to play – little backflow. Next I played First Call. Again rich and full with lovely tone.
The bugle has to be played high for Taps. Too high for what people are accustomed too. That’s the worst thing I have to say about it. I did need to clean what looked like buffing compound out of the tubing. But a little soap and water using a snake with the right size brushes and two minutes later it sounded even better. -Thom 0 |
