Having to switch out your trusty electric for an acoustic guitar in the middle of a set puts a real drag on your show’s momentum. That’s why BEHRINGER created the Acoustic Modeler AM400, the pedal that transforms your favorite electric axe into a rich, full-bodied acoustic faster than you can say-the times, they are a-changin’.
Instant Acoustic Guitar
Step on the AM400 and choose between four great-sounding acoustic models: standard, large, piezo and bright. AM400’s secret weapon is BEHRINGER Real Sound Modeling (RSM) technology, which allows this pedal to accurately simulate environmental acoustics. Just select one of the four models and use the dedicated RES(onance), LEVEL, and ATTACK controls to dial in your ultimate acoustic guitar tone. The AM400 even has its own onboard REVERB, custom-tailored to add the perfect finishing touch to your new acoustic sounds.
The Ins and Outs
Thanks to its OUT and DIR OUT jacks, the AM100 functions very much like an A/B box. Just use the DIR OUT to send your unprocessed electric guitar signal to your onstage amp, and the OUT jack to send the processed acoustic signal to the main/monitor mixer(s). Need to rock? Your electric (both the guitar and the amp) is just a toe-tap away.
Easy to Operate
A status LED lets you know when the AM400 is activated, and you can power it with either a 9 V battery or our PSU-SB DC power supply (not included). A top-quality on/off switch maintains excellent signal integrity in bypass mode.

OK, first off, I’m a sucker for these gadgets as I keep thinking that a box can make my electric guitar sound like an acoustic. Because of this, I also have a Boss AC2 and Boss AC3 acoustic modellers.
This Behringer unit sounds far better than the Boss AC3 at half the price. Far better. It also has less hiss in the output than the Boss pedal. 0

Well..I must say that this item does, at least somewhat, make my electric sound like my acoustic. I’ve run across two issues.
It’s WAY too bright in it’s resonance. Piercing in it’s use. Had to back the res WAY off. When engaged it cuts back the volume of my guitar and I have to compensate with that in a variety of ways. I wish I could have the same volume out of it either way. Other wise it seems sturdy enough and it’s reliable. One more item. The blue LED that shines when it’s engaged. TOO BRIGHT! 0

I bought this pedal to use when I needed an acoustic part to a song. I knew going into the purchase that this was not going to sound like a mic’d acoustic guitar. That being said, I compared this to the Boss AC3 at the guitar shop, and for the 0 difference, I went with the Behringer. In my experience, the hissing that comes when you strum, is less with the Behringer. I have this pedal run direct into the PA, and the guitar through the direct out into my amp. I can’t quite comment on the bypass yet, as I haven’t spent enough time with it. I found the best sound was achieved using either the middle or neck single coil pickups. The only setting on this pedal that I find realistic is the “large” acoustic guitar setting. The “standard” is a bit muddy, and the “bright” just sounds like a trebely eq’d electric guitar. The “piezo” setting is OK, but not the sound I wanted. The best I can describe the sound through the PA is the sound that Alex Lifeson gets when he uses his electric with the piezo for acoustic sounds. No one will ever think you are playing a Martin acoustic, but it does the job that it is suppossed to do, and for the money it I think it does a great job at that. The casing is plastic, so I would be careful with it. I really think the trick to getting a good useable sound with this is to run it through the PA, with no amp coloring, as it was designed to do. Again, head to head with the Boss, I could see very little difference, other than the Boss was noisier. Also, I did notice that the tone was remarkabley bad using the bridge humbucker on my guitar…too bright, and just too “electric” sounding. Hope this helps!
