I have had this for week now and been waiting for 2 years for this to come out. I am still going to play around with it a few more days but this will most likely be returned as it’s not quite a finished product to me. If you already have a DM10, it does WAY more than this will do for you. There are only a few basic drum sets and sounds in the program (which are good), but the DM10 blows that away in comparison. The latency seems pretty bad on the dock as well, however, that may be able to be adjusted out through the settings. The truly nice thing about the dock is the ability to adjust your "tension" on the fly and grab and drop different drums to whatever position you like. IF someone comes out with more apps for this with more sounds and options, it will be the way all drum modules will be done. I am not confident enough with Alesis to support this product. I am judging from their past history of course, but history does show that they will throw something out there and then forget about it. The DM10 is a prime example. They promised many sound pack options when launched 4 years ago and there is only one–Bluejay. Very disappointed. On the plus side, if you already have an ipad, then this is pretty fun to at least play around with….if you want to pony up 0 for the dock. Not worth that in my opinion. I hope I am wrong about Alesis support as they do make some very nice and affordable electronic drumming equipment. The dock is built solidly as is most of their equipment is.
BOTTOM LINE—-If you have a DM10, then it is way better than this in it’s current state. If you already have an ipad and WANT this, then it’s probably worth it to play around with and HOPE someone makes apps for this thing with tons of sound packs. It is solidly built and works well, the ipad slides in and is in place nice and solid and any mount will screw to the back of this for rack or cymbal stand mounting. 0
