MPC Essentials, a groove/beat production and sample-triggering software, lets producers and musicians incorporate genuine MPC workflow into their DAW of choice and extends the power of MPK mini by adding up to 8 pad banks and 4 samples and insert effects per pad. It feels almost rare that a company releases an updated product in which they simply hit every mark for improvement. Assuming you understand everything that was brilliant about the MK1, as we’ll call it, I’ll just run through the new stuff.
1. Pitch/mod wheel (they made it a joystick, I love it) and CC controls. Honestly, for , if you’re looking for portable production, there is no competition. 0

Perfect form factor. Responsive pads. 8 assignable knobs and a thumbstick for pitch and modulation. If you are on the fence about getting the MKI vs MKII my advice is to wait for the MKII. It’s much improved from better pads to a full sized, more sturdy USB jack. I looked at dozens of 25 and 32 key MIDI controllers and this is the best out right now.
