I am a long time zen student and had admired the shakuhachi for a long time before finally deciding to start trying to play that instrument. So, after thinking ir over, I ordered this shakuhachi from Amazon.
As usual with Amazon-related business, the service was excellent and the item ordered was just as described, a gorgeous shakuhachi.
Some comments for newbies: the first month is the worst one. Several times I was about to bash the damn thing against a wall!
But, when you persevere and those notes start coming…it’s heaven.
That is the most important word PERSEVERANCE. It seems impossible at first.
Even when you finish going up and down the scale like a pro, all of a sudden you find that you can’t even play the simplest note.
It’s a mystery, but it happens and blows your mind.
Well, highly recommend this shakuhachi for all would be players.
It’s worth it!

I purchased this 1.8 Shakuhachi flute on 9/13/13 and received it on 9/16/13. I did a lot of research on this flute and you can not find a better price. The Shakuhachi flute is not an easy flute to play but with daily practice you will be shocked of the beautiful tones that will be coming out at the other end of this flute. Playing this Shakuhachi has been part of my meditation practice.
